Are you looking for a fun-filled August bank holiday this year in your uni city? Hold tight and scroll down, we’ve done our research and found some of the best events in some of the largest cities; Manchester, Leeds, London and Nottingham. Having a Monday to recover is rare so of course, some of these events are Sunday sessions  💃 

Whether you’re looking for a festival, a bottomless event, or just a fun boogie with your friends for the bank holiday, we’ve got you covered 🥳

1️⃣ Manchester

Manchester boasts one of the liveliest music scenes and nightlife in the UK, so of course they are not going to fail on the August Bank Holiday. Forget the Warehouse Project, summer sessions in Manchester are in full swing and we’re going to kick our event top picks with a gooden; Manchester Pride. This annual festival celebrates Manchester’s LGBTQ+ culture and life. There are thousands of people that attend from all over the UK each year, and there are many events to attend! This includes the Gay Village Party, Youth and Family Pride events, a human rights rally and the annual parade. Get your brightest outfits on, grab a great group and friends and spread love on this weekend 🏳️‍🌈 💃

Manchester Pride: Friday 26th – Monday 29th August

If you’re after an event which will make your bank holiday something to remember, you need to head to TUCK IN: Drag Brunch Sunday 28th August. This day sees a two hour show of the best UK Drag Queens with a DJ, games, pizza and of course a countless glasses of prosecco. Get stuck in on a Sunday session with this two hour long show!

The Blues Kitchen is packed with soul food and bluesy tunes. From funk sets to clubbing to live musicians, this vibrant venue will have you drinking, dining or dancing your way through the bank holiday weekend. Blues Kitchen guarantees tropical vibes bringing DJ Quantic to their stage, so head over and grab your ticket to get your groove on!

2️⃣ London

London will never fail to disappoint with the range of activities going on over the August Bank holiday weekend. Yes, you might have to come across some of the city boys whilst you boogie in the sunshine, but the events London holds will be worth it. 

Starting off strong with All Points East in Victoria Park. This festival is being held over the whole weekend, from Friday right through to Sunday. See the likes of Disclosure, Fred Again, The Chemical Brothers and Gorillaz are just a few of the Headliners. This fun-filled weekend at Victoria Park is NOT one to miss, so head to get your tickets today!

The Notting Hill Carnival is an annual event featuring parade bands and sound systems around Notting Hill, which has been going on in London since the 1960s to celebrate Caribbean culture. What you can expect from this famous street party is dancing, music and masquerade and much more 💃 Get the tube to Notting Hill Gate, then follow the crowds and you’re guaranteed to have a great time 🕺

Notting Hill Carnival: Saturday 27th August – Monday 29th August

Ending the bank holiday weekend with bottomless zingy rum punch and authentic Caribbean food, Brixton Jamm are hosting their Carnival Brunch. Join the energy crew and get grooving to Reggae and Afrobeats 💃 Nevertheless, expect carnival djs and authentic food, including Jerk chicken to end the bank holiday on a high. Grab your tickets because this is something you do not want to miss!

3️⃣ Leeds

We all know the nightlife in Leeds is pretty spectacular, there’s something for everyone and anyone. Get ready to groove at this year’s Bank Holiday Terrace Party featuring headliners such as Pawsa and Ben Sterling. The loft will also be welcoming Bass Jamz Crew, as well as Visualise hosting a boiler room. This is something you do not want to miss out on if you’re up in Leeds this bank holiday. Get your rave shades ready get ready to two step into the bank holiday, Mint Warehouse style ✌️

This bottomless brunch is NOT something to miss. 3 hours of unlimited prosecco, gin and beer? Count us in. They’re not holding back on the food either, there is a cracking Chef’s brunch fare and just to top it off there is a pancake and waffle station 😍 The Soap Factory make sure you carry on the party as well, with happy hours starting at 4pm right when the brunch finishes 🥂

Our final top choice event is of course the TV themed bar crawl around the city centre. Forget boring pub crawls, this one is filled with games and TV related quizzes in each pub. Sound like a bit of you? Head to Leeds Town Centre on Monday 29th August to get involved!

4️⃣ Nottingham

Nottingham’s dynamic city culture is no different to its vibrant nightlife. There’s a wild and adventurous spirit in Nottingham, which is definitely still alive in the nightlife of this city. 

What to expect with our first event pick; carnival vibes on the waterfront overlooking the city 🤩 You can expect performances from Roger Sanchez and Second City in this Cafe Mambo X Ibiza at Groovebox, Waterfront. Groovebox has take inspiration by parties in some of the best locations around the world this summer so get your groovy shoes out and enjoy this fun event at the great Waterfront venue 🌴

Looking for some disco, funk, hip hop and crowd pleasers this bank holiday? The Paradisco event is the one for you! This event is one not to miss, bringing good vibes on Sunday Funday of the Bank Holiday. Grab your tickets to get groovy today 🕺

Paradisco X Bodega, The Bodega: Sunday 28th August

The Bierkeller in Nottingham is iconic, so this Carnival takeover will only be bringing good vibes 🤩 You can expect Carnival dancers, bottomless drinks and some top notch Reggae DJs to dance your way through the weekend. Keep your eyes peeled for DJ announcements if you’re heading to this event 👀
