Check your Boobs!

26 October 2022

Today (…and every day) we want to remind everyone in the world to check their boobs regularly!

This month, as we think about those who have suffered or are suffering from breast cancer there isn’t a better time to spread awareness and educate ourselves on the signs and symptoms. Many of us will know of someone who has suffered and in a lot of cases, the first sign is a painless lump in the breast that can only be found if you’ve given your boobs a good feel.

breast cancer awareness

A common misconception surrounding breast cancer is that only older people can suffer… this isn’t always true. Like many cancers, breast cancer can be unpredictable. Therefore, people should start checking their boobs from the age of 20 onwards. While boobs of all shapes and sizes are beautiful, feminine and frankly fabulous… they also are one of the leading causes of death in women under 50 in the UK. Here are some important symptoms to look out for while you’re getting changed, showering or just have a spare moment:

  • New painless lump in the breast or underarm (armpit)
  • Thickening or swelling of part of the breast
  • Irritation or dimpling of breast skin
  • Redness or flaky skin in the nipple area or the breast
  • Pulling in of the nipple or pain in the nipple area

So there you have it. As scary as it is, we want everyone to be safe and look after themselves. So don’t be afraid to spread awareness and remind your friends to CHECK THEIR BOOBS!
